Everything Taylor Swift Has Said About Her Wedding to Travis Kelce, Including Who’s Already on the Guest List

Engagement announcement and early plans

The countdown to “I do” is officially on. After two electric years together, Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Aug. 26, 2025. And the superstar pair is already talking future plans. While they’re keeping specifics close to the vest, both are buzzing about what comes next, with Swift even handing out an on-air invite to a longtime friend.

Need to know:

  • – Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Aug. 26, 2025, after two years of dating.
  • – The “Cruel Summer” singer and the NFL star say they’re excited to plan their future together.
  • – Swift says she “never thought about” her own wedding until Kelce proposed.

The proposal

The proposal was a showstopper. Kelce popped the question in a backyard floral paradise, presenting Swift with a custom, old mine brilliant-cut diamond. On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Oct. 6, Swift described a rare Kelce case of nerves in the moments before the big ask. “He’s like, ‘My heart is racing,’ and I’ve never seen this dude nervous, ever,” she shared. “He’s professionally not a nervous person.”

The ring and what it symbolizes

Swift couldn’t help but rave about the ring, and what it symbolizes. When Fallon joked he was “blinded” by the rock, the “Opalite” singer laughed and admitted, “It’s crazy, that’s crazy. I look at it constantly, it doesn’t feel in any way normal for me, I’m still like, ‘Oh man, wow!’” But the sparkle isn’t the main event for her. “Because he’s just my favorite person I’ve ever met, no offense to everyone else I’ve ever met,” she said. “The fact that this is the person I get to hang out with every day forever, that’s the whole thing of it, that’s the win, and this represents that.”

How Kelce planned the surprise

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show on Oct. 3, Swift revealed Kelce’s elaborate playbook for the surprise. “We had actually filmed a podcast episode, he has a podcast called New Heights, so we filmed the podcast for about three or four hours … and meanwhile behind his house, he was having the whole back garden turned into this,” she said. The finishing touch? “One of the things that he put in there, very strategically, was a wall of hedges that weren’t there before. And inside the hedges was my tour photographer hiding in bushes that had not previously been there.” Her grade for Kelce’s effort: “10 out of 10.”

Wedding planning timeline

As for when wedding planning kicks into high gear, Swift’s game plan is clear: album first, aisle later. “I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning. I think it will be fun to plan,” she teased, referring to her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

Imagining the ceremony

Despite penning plenty of love songs, Swift says imagining her own ceremony didn’t happen until she met Kelce. On Heart Radio in the U.K. on Oct. 3, she admitted, “You would think that I had been the type of person who would have obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I actually never thought about what I would ever do or what I would want until I met the person.” She added that she hasn’t fully wrapped her head around her new “married life era” but is “really excited” for what’s ahead.

Bachelorette plans and inner circle

One thing she hasn’t mapped out: a bachelorette bash. “So I haven’t even thought about that, doing a hen do [U.K. name for a bachelorette party] or whatever,” she said on Heart Radio. “This is the first time I have thought about that.” She acknowledged her “good girl gang they’re so fun” ,but noted it might be tricky to gather everyone because they’re “so busy” and “scattered across the world.” Her inner circle includes Selena Gomez, whose wedding to Benny Blanco she attended in September 2025, Zoë Kravitz, the Haim sisters, Brittany Mahomes and Blake Lively.

Guest list: invitation to Greg James

One invite is already on the board. During an Oct. 3 BBC Radio 1 chat, the “Love Story” singer extended a wedding invitation to longtime friend Greg James after he said he hoped to meet Kelce. “He’s a really easy-going guy. You will absolutely love him when you meet him … He’s a real vibes guy,” Swift told the host. When James joked he needed to make sure Kelce was solid. and floated the idea of playing catch, Swift didn’t miss. “The way that he’s going to do that as soon as he sees you at our wedding. That’s gonna happen,” she said, adding that she and James are “actually friends.” When he asked if she was really inviting him, she answered, “Obviously.” James later thanked her for the “invite to the wedding,” and Swift replied, “You’re so welcome.” He quipped, “I don’t normally like a destination wedding, but for you I would make an exception,” and Swift came back with, “Sick,” promising to reveal the location “at a different time.”

What’s next

With The Life of a Showgirl now out, a source close to Swift told PEOPLE that she’s ready to pivot her attention toward wedding planning.
