Blanket Jackson could collect more than $1 billion from his father’s estate by February 2042, but only on paper. The figure comes from a projection Celebrity Net Worth published on November 3, 2026, and it rests on two big assumptions: that the Michael Jackson estate grows about 4% a year after expenses, and that the children eventually absorb their grandmother’s share. Change either one and the Blanket Jackson inheritance looks very different.
There’s a more immediate problem, too. According to a petition his sister Paris filed on October 29, the family trust that’s supposed to pay him has never been funded.
Where the $400 million birthday figure comes from
Michael Jackson’s 2002 will sends everything into the Michael Jackson Family Trust. His three children get 40%, his mother Katherine gets 40% and children’s charities get 20%. Katherine’s portion sits in a sub-trust for her lifetime and then reverts to the main trust, according to a 2024 California appeals court opinion reported by Rolling Stone.
The trust pays each child in stages, with income support starting at 21. At 30, a child receives one third of the principal, then half of what’s left at 35 and the rest at 40.
Celebrity Net Worth started from $2.5 billion, the midpoint of the executors’ own estimate of $2 billion to $3 billion. It took 80% of that, on the assumption that Katherine’s share passes to her grandchildren in time, which leaves $2 billion. Split three ways, each child’s share comes to about $666.7 million.
The model then grows each share at 4% a year until the payout dates. For Bigi, the name he has used for years, the numbers land like this:
| Payout | Date | Projected amount |
|---|---|---|
| One third at 30 | Feb. 21, 2032 | about $274 million |
| Half the rest at 35 | Feb. 21, 2037 | about $333 million |
| Everything left at 40 | Feb. 21, 2042 | about $405 million |
| Total | about $1.01 billion |
The “$400 million 40th birthday present” is that third row, rounded down. Celebrity Net Worth says plainly that the 4% rate is an illustration and not a forecast of how the estate will perform. So it’s a birthday present from a spreadsheet, at least for now.
Why the youngest heir gets the biggest check
Bigi doesn’t own a bigger slice than his siblings. All three get equal thirds. The gap comes from time.
Prince Jackson turns 30 in February 2027, so in the model his first payout gets only a few months of growth. Bigi, born in 2002, won’t reach 30 until 2032, which means his whole share compounds for five more years before he sees any principal. Under identical assumptions, the same projection puts Prince at about $831 million in total and Paris at about $868 million, against $1.01 billion for Bigi.
That difference is mostly an accounting effect. Prince gets his money earlier and can invest it. If he earns 4% on it too, he ends up in roughly the same place as his younger brother.
Change one assumption and the number falls fast
I reran the projection’s formula with one input changed at a time. These are rough figures, but they show how much of the headline depends on choices made in a spreadsheet.
With zero growth, Bigi simply receives his $666.7 million share in three pieces. About a third of the billion is assumed growth.
If Katherine’s share doesn’t reach the children during this window, his starting share drops to 13.3% of the estate, or about $333 million. At 4% growth that totals around $505 million.
If the estate is worth $2 billion, the low end of the executors’ range, every figure shrinks by a fifth. The total lands near $808 million.
The estate isn’t standing still, though. The biopic “Michael” opened in April 2026 and finished its run with about $1.029 billion worldwide, the first biopic to cross $1 billion. Celebrity Net Worth reports the estate could earn more than $50 million in profit participation from the film alone.
Growth above 4% is possible. So is a bad decade for catalog values.
The family trust is still empty
This is the part the billion-dollar headline leaves out. Michael Jackson died in June 2009, and the Michael Jackson estate has been in probate ever since, largely because of a long fight with the IRS.
The agency claimed the estate undervalued its assets and sought more than $700 million in taxes and penalties. A 2021 US Tax Court ruling mostly went the estate’s way. The court valued Jackson’s name and likeness at about $4.15 million, a small fraction of what the IRS had claimed.
The case still isn’t closed. One asset’s value remains in dispute, and the IRS keeps a lien on estate assets until that’s settled.
The tax number matters for a second reason. Under the trust, the 20% charity share is measured on the estate’s federal tax value and has to be paid before money flows into the family sub-trusts. In 2024 the executors told the family they couldn’t work out how much was safe to distribute until the tax case ended, People reported via 1News. They offered a family allowance in the meantime.
Paris’s October 29 petition asks a Los Angeles judge to order roughly $600 million moved into the trust now. “More than 17 years after his passing, Michael Jackson’s family trust remains unfunded,” it says, as reported by Hola. The estate denies withholding money. It says more than $200 million has already gone to or for the benefit of the beneficiaries, and that Michael didn’t want his children getting distributions before their 30s, according to the Spokesman-Review.
One executor now runs all of it. John McClain, who managed the estate with attorney John Branca from 2009, died on May 26, 2026, at 71, TMZ reported. Branca carries on alone.
Where Bigi stands in the family fights
Bigi keeps a low public profile, but the court record shows he has backed the executors more often than he has fought them.
In 2022 he joined his grandmother in objecting to the estate’s plan to sell a stake in Jackson’s catalog to Sony. When the probate court approved the deal, he let it go and Katherine appealed.
In March 2024, Bigi asked the court to stop her from paying for that appeal with estate money, according to CMU. His argument was that the appeal would likely fail and that her seven-figure allowance could cover it. He was right about the first part. A three-judge appeals panel upheld the Sony deal that August.
Earlier this year, RadarOnline reported that Prince and Bigi joined Paris in asking for a breakdown of the estate’s 2025 spending. Bigi hasn’t said publicly whether he supports her $600 million request.
When does Blanket Jackson get his first payout?
Under the trust schedule, his first share of principal is due on his 30th birthday, February 21, 2032. That assumes the trust has money in it by then.
Is he a billionaire today?
Not by any public measure. The billion-dollar figure is a projection that reaches out to 2042, and no court filing has put a verified number on what Bigi personally holds right now.
What could change the Blanket Jackson inheritance before 2032
Two things will shape his payouts more than any growth rate: the judge’s response to Paris’s petition and the final IRS valuation. Once the tax case closes, the charity share can be set and the trust can finally be funded.
Then watch February 2027, when Prince turns 30 and becomes the first of Jackson’s children due a principal payout. How the estate handles that check will say more about Bigi’s eventual inheritance than any 4% projection can.
